Shri Sarbananda Sonowal has launched a project called “SAGAR SAMRIDDHI”.
- Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Ports (MoPSW) and Minister for AYUSH launched an online dredging monitoring system on June 09 under a project named “SAGAR SAMRIDDHI” to enhance the capacity of the Ministry.
- The project aims to accelerate the MoPSW Ministry’s ‘Waste to Wealth’ campaign, the ministry said.
The National Archives of India organized an exhibition titled “Hamari Bhasha, Hamari Virasat” on June 9, 2023.
- Union Minister of State for Culture Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi inaugurated the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) exhibition titled “Hamari Bhasha, Hamari Virasat” to mark the 75th International Archives Day at the National Archives Complex of India, New Delhi on June 09.
- The Minister said that out of the 8000 languages spoken worldwide, about 788 languages are spoken in India alone and in the background of this, the exhibition has been set up as an effort to commemorate the rich heritage of our linguistic diversity as a single nation.
It plans to hold its “First national training conference” on June 10 at the International Exhibition and Convention Center in New Delhi.
- Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to inaugurate its “First National Training Conference” on June 11, 2023 at the International Exhibition and Convention Center at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
- This National Training Conference is organized by “Skill Development Authority” to develop collaboration among training institutes for civil servants and to improve training infrastructure for civil servants across the country.
The Central Government has announced the second edition of “Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media Samman”.
- The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has announced the media award for the second edition of the Antarashtriya Yoga Diwas Media samman on June 09 as part of the celebration of International Yoga Day 2023.
- At the event, awards for “22 Indian languages and 11 in English” will be presented under the category of Best Media Content on Yoga in Newspapers, the ministry said.
Project to build 525 megawatt (MW) of improved storage at Indira Sagar Dam.
- The Union Ministry of Power announced on June 09 that Narmada Hydro-Electric Development Corporation (NHDC) has approved a project to build 525 MW of improved storage near Indira Sagar Dam in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.
- The project will be “a part of the Indira Sagar project” and the Omkareshwar reservoirs will be used for the project, it said. The project is said to cater to the growing energy demand in Madhya Pradesh.
The central government has announced four major initiatives to strengthen cooperative banks in the country.
- The Central Government on June 09 announced four major initiatives to strengthen the 1,514 Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) in our country.
- Among the measures jointly announced by the Reserve Bank of India and the central government, the initiative aims to “Allow these banks to settle once and for all at par with commercial banks, allow urban co-operative banks to open new branches” and make various appointments.
The Indian Army has signed a contract for defense equipment.
- The Indian Army said on June 09 that it has entered into an agreement with a Bengaluru-based defense firm to procure an indigenously developed “Tactical LAN Radio”.
- “Tactical LAN Radio” is a “state-of-the-art high frequency wireless radio equipment” for providing reliable communications and aims to create a unique ecosystem to foster innovation and technology development in the defense and aerospace industry.
“HPCL has launched an aircraft-based study of diesel blended with E27 and Ethanol”.
- HPCL has initiated a research program in India, which has been awarded “Oil Marketing”, aimed at promoting ethanol blending in petrol by all establishments and in line with the “Roadmap for Ethanol Blending in India by 2025”.
- E27 fuel is a mixture based on “27 percent ethanol and fossil fuel”. The study was released with the aim of reducing the country’s oil export and import costs, energy security, better air quality, and lower carbon emissions.
India tops the global ranking of Digital money transactions.
- According to the latest data from MyGovIndia, India tops the list of five digital payments countries with “89.5 million digital transactions” by 2022.
- According to this data, by 2022, India will account for 46 percent of global real-time digital transactions, a percentage that is higher than the other four leading countries in digital payment transactions, MyGovIndia said in its announcement.
Launch of “India’s first cannabis research program to develop drugs for Neurology and Cancer”.
- CSIR and IIM Jammu have launched the country’s first research project on the use of cannabis for neurology and cancer medicine.
- Union Minister Jitendra Singh said the project was “introduced with an objective to develop better capacity to produce export quality medicine for Neurology, Epilepsy and Cancer”.

US Vice President Announces $100 Million in Aid to “Caribbean Regions”.
- US Vice President Kamala Harris has announced the approval of a plan to invest more than $100 million in the Caribbean.
- This will help prevent widespread arms trafficking, alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Haiti and support climate change efforts, the US Vice President said in the announcement.
The European Union has reached an agreement to reform the “Asylum procedure for the camp”.
- After 12 hours of negotiations to secure approval from key members Italy and Greece, EU ministers approved a deal to “overhaul asylum procedures for the camp”.
- The agreement replaces the existing “Dublin Regulation” with new asylum-seeking and migration management regulatory process improvements. It is said to regulate how “asylum seekers” are admitted to the borders of the EU.

Launched ‘Ladli Bahna’ program to make women financially independent.
- The Madhya Pradesh government on June 10 evening launched the “Ladli Bahna” scheme to “Make women financially independent”.
- The scheme, named Ladli Bahna, will provide Rs 1,000 per month to each woman and the state chief minister has disbursed the first month’s amount of “about Rs 1.25 crore” into the bank accounts of selected women at a state-level function on June 10 in Jabalpur.
