The 2nd G-20 Working Group on Disaster Reduction meeting will start from May 23, 2023 in Mumbai.
- The 2nd meeting of the G-20 Working “Group on Global Disaster Risk” Reduction has been announced to be held in Mumbai from May 23 to 25. A total of three working group meetings of the G-20 Council are being held in Mumbai in May. More than 120 members will attend this meeting.
- Mumbai’s work in the field of disaster management over the past few years has been recognized not only nationally but also in globally. A meeting of the G-20 Council’s Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group has been seen to raise it to global standards.
India and Israel today signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) for important “Industrial Research and Development” cooperation.
- A multi-sector development agreement was signed today between India’s CSIR and Israel’s Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) under the Ministry of Defence.
- It has been said that India-Israel-USA_UAE(I2U2) will contribute greatly to the world through joint investments and new initiatives in water, energy, transport, space, health and food security sectors.

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is participating in Arabia Travel Market (ATM) 2023.

- Tamil Nadu Health Minister M. Subramanian inaugurated a Rs 2.30 crore “Kidney Stone Removal Treatment Center” at Kilipakkam Government Hospital in Chennai on May 02.
- The minister said that the recently opened “Electromagnetic Resonance Kidney Stone Removal Treatment Center” has state-of-the-art medical equipment and in this center, kidney stone can be removed without surgery, blood transfusion or anesthesia.
New facility to know details about statues and memorials in Tamil Nadu through QR code.
- Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin launched a system of 360-degree image of information about memorials and statues maintained by the news department and quick scan (QR line) system for public to know about it easily.
- The minister said that if you scan the QR code, you will get complete information about the statue.
Telangana is the “most innovative state in manufacturing”, according to a recent government Survey.
- Among manufacturing companies from the total states surveyed, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu lead in the share of innovative companies with 46.18 per cent, 39.10 per cent and 31.90 percent respectively.
- In the DST rankings, Karnataka is in the high innovation category, followed by Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Haryana. Uttarakhand scored highest in the hill states followed by Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Union Territories in the category. In the National Manufacturing Innovation Survey (NMIS) 2021-22, North Eastern states except Assam have been reported to have low innovation in the manufacturing sector.

Daily toll collection through FASTag system in one day is Rs. 193.15 crore has set a historic record.
- On 29th April 2023 the daily toll collection through the FASTag system on a single day reached a historic record, reaching an all-time high of Rs. 193.15 crore received. This achievement has an unprecedented record of 1.16 crore transactions in a single day.
- The release also stated that the government remains steadfast in its commitment to provide a seamless and hassle-free toll experience to all road users.
The production of coal, manganese and iron ores has bigger than previous years.
- India’s largest integrated power generation company NTPC Ltd announced that it has extracted 148% coal from its mines in April 2023.
- Compared to 1.11 million metric tonnes (MMT) of coal recorded in April 2022, this year (April 2023) produced 2.75 million metric tonnes (MMT) of coal in April. This year NMDC’s iron ore production is 11.42% higher than April 2022 and sales growth is 9.93% over last year April 2022.
India and China account for half of global growth – IMF Report
- Growth in the notable Asia-Pacific region is expected to accelerate from 3.8 percent recorded in 2022 to 4.6 percent this year, led by India and China, the International Monetary Fund said in its report.
- “Asia and the Pacific will be the most dynamic of the world’s key regions in 2023, with China and India accounting for the largest share,” by the IMF statement.
