Joint military exercise between India and Maldives Starts.
- The 12th edition of the joint military exercise “Ex Ekuverin” between the Indian Army and the Maldives National Defense Forces commenced on June 11, 2023.
- The joint exercise is scheduled to take place from June 11 to 24 at Chaubatia in Uttarakhand. Notable that, the exercise is a bilateral annual exercise held alternately between India and the Maldives, with the word Ekuverin meaning “FRIENDS” as its primary focus.
The Union Government plans to “Create more employment opportunities for ex-servicemen”.
- The Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), a unit under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defense (MoD), entered into an MoU with a private company, Kotak Mahindra Insurance(KMI ltd) on June 12 in New Delhi.
- The agreement is aimed at bringing together leading large and medium corporates and ex-servicemen on a “Common platform” to create more and satisfying employment opportunities for them.
India’s industrial production peaked 4.2% this year.
- Our country’s industrial production grew by 4.2 percent in April this year, the Union Ministry of Statistics and Plan Implementation said in a report released on June 12.
- If this manufacturing growth continues, the country’s GDP is expected to rise above what has already been projected by this year. Meanwhile, India’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) expanded as mining output also rose 5.1 percent, the report said.
The Ministry of Education plans to host the 4th and final summit under India’s G20 presidency.
- The Union Ministry of Education has planned to hold the 4th and final Education Working Group (EdWG) conference under India’s G20 leadership from “June 19 to 21” in Pune, Maharashtra.
- The theme of this conference is “Ensuring Basic Literacy and Numeracy in the Context of Blended Learning”. The central government said that the conference is expected to bring about some significant development in the education sector.
First indigenously developed animal-derived tissue – Drug controller of India approval.
- India’s drug regulator has approved a low-cost indigenously developed tissue engineering drug from mammalian organs.
- According to the Drug Control of India, the drug can heal skin wounds with minor scars quickly and has been placed in the “Class D” category of biotechnological drugs derived from animals.

ADB approves USD 400 million loan deal to Bangladesh.
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has on June 13 approved a USD 400 million loan program for Bangladesh’s multi-sector development.
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on June 13 approved a USD 400 million loan to Bangladesh to develop domestic resources, implement cost-effective spending plans for small, micro and medium-sized businesses, especially women-led businesses, to generate more profits at lower costs, improve public spending efficiency and productivity.

10 national highway projects worth Rs.8415 crore have been approved in Uttar Pradesh.
- Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on June 12 laid the foundation stone for “10 National Highways” projects worth Rs 8415 crore in Uttar Pradesh.
- Union Minister Gadkari has said that five national highway projects worth Rs 2,200 crore will be implemented in the areas around Pratapgarh and five highway projects worth Rs 6,215 crore will be implemented around Deoria in the state. It has been informed that through this project, the aim is to provide fast and improved transportation to the people of the country.
Scheme to provide monthly pension to Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan awardees in Haryana.
- Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has announced that recipients of the Padma Shri, Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan awards will be given a “Monthly Pension” of Rs 10,000 to honor their “thinking and improve their lives”.
- Apart from that, the Chief Minister also mentioned the scheme of providing free travel facility to them in high quality Volvo buses of the state government.

Senior Police Officer “Nitin Aggarwal” has been appointed as the new BSF Director General.
- Nitin Aggarwal, a 1989 batch and Kerala cadre IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the Border Security Force (BSF). It is reported that he will assume the post on June 14.
- Nitin Aggarwal, who is currently working as Additional Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) headquarters in Delhi, will address and improve the deficiencies in the organization with this appointment, BSF said.
Appointment of former Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir High Court as Returning Officer of WFI Elections.
- The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced on June 12 that the election for the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) will be held on July 4.
- Former Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir High Court “Mahesh Mittal Kumar” has been appointed as the “Returning Officer” to conduct the election in a proper manner.
Pankaj will take over as PF Additional Commissioner on June 12.
- Pankaj took charge as Additional Central Provident Fund (PF) Commissioner for Chennai and Puducherry Zone on June 12.

- Punjab National Bank (PNB) launched an IVR-based UPI solution – “UPI 123PAY” on June 12.
- Punjab National Bank has the status of being the first public sector bank to introduce this and it is aiming for digital payments towards a paperless and cardless society by 2025.

- The Indonesia Open Badminton tournament started on June 13 in Jakarta. The World Squash Championship started in Chennai.

World Blood Donor Day 2023
- World Blood Donor Day is observed every year on June 14 to honor the Selfless acts of voluntary blood donors and to create awareness among people about the blood shortage in the world.
- The day was first officially celebrated by the World Health Organization in 2005 and is observed every year. “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often” is the theme for this year.
