National News
National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Program – to launch.
- Prime Minister Modi will launch the National Sickle Cell Anemia Eradication Program in Madhya Pradesh on July 01.
- This work aims to address the pressing health challenges posed by sickle cell disease, particularly among tribal people and hill dwellers. The project is seen as part of the government’s continuous efforts to eliminate the disease from the country’s public health problem by 2047.
The MoD has signed an agreement with shipbuilder Mazagon Dock for the development of the submarine.
- on June 30, The Ministry of Defense signed an agreement with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, in Mumbai to upgrade the Surface Sea Killer (SSK) class submarine “INS Shankush” for medium Refit with Life Certification (MRLC).
- It is Rs. 2725 crore joint venture. The deal is aimed at inducting the INS Shankush warship with enhanced combat capability into the Indian Navy by 2026.
A distribution agreement has been entered into between HPC and ADNOC to expand the lubricant oil business.
- ADNOC Distribution has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) to further expand their lubricants business in other potential markets between UAE and India.
- The agreement is aimed at enhancing and strengthening the performance of both companies’ local market capabilities and maintaining infrastructure in their overseas lubricant oil operations.
The Philippine government has approved a renewed aviation research and services agreement with India.
- Philippine Foreign Secretary Enrique A. Manalo and Indian Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar at the 5th India-Philippines Joint Committee on Bilateral Cooperation held in New Delhi on June 29.
- During the event, the two sides agreed to work together on security, maritime security, counter-terrorism and transnational crime. The Secretary of State also announced at this meeting, that the Philippines has approved a renewed Aeronautical Research and Services Agreement with India.
India-Tanzania Joint Defense Cooperation Committee meeting held in Arusha.
- The second edition of the Joint Security Cooperation Committee meeting between India and the African country of Tanzania concluded on June 29 in Arusha.
- A five-year roadmap was agreed upon between the two sides for cooperation between the two countries in defense cooperation, covering initiatives ranging from capacity building, maritime cooperation, infrastructure development and sharing of defense equipment and cooperation in technology.

The British Prime Minister has honored a 101-year-old Sikh with the Points of Light award.
- British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak honored Rajinder Singh Dutt, one of the last surviving Sikh soldiers who fought at critical moments in World War II, with the “Points of Light Award” at the UK-India Week reception at 10-Downing Street on June 28.
- Joining the British Indian Army during World War II, he rose to the rank of Havildar Major (Sergeant Major) in 1943 through various efforts. He was recognized with this prestigious award for his tireless efforts during his tenure and for organizing the association “Undivided Indian Soldiers” to unite British Indian war veterans.
The World Bank has approved a US$ 700 million loan to Sri Lanka.
- In a major boost to crisis-hit Sri Lanka, the World Bank has approved a significant loan of $700 million.
- The World Bank said that of the funds approved through this approval, approximately $500 million will be earmarked for budget support and the remaining $200 million will be earmarked for providing assistance to those hardest hit by the current crisis.

New Zealand has announced its first ban on plastic bags used in supermarkets.

India has won the Asian Kabaddi Champion title for the eighth time.

A deal has been struck between Brazil’s largest startup Pismo and Visa.
- American credit card major Visa has signed a deal to acquire Brazil’s renowned fintech startup Pismo for a valuation of $1 billion (over ₹8,204 crores).
- The deal is aimed at further enhancing the value of Visa and the decision has been made to address various issues. And it’s Visa’s first major acquisition since 2021, when it bought European open banking platform Tink and UK business lender CurrencyCloud, according to economists.
