The 120 new ballistic missiles plan is to buy for the Indian Army in the first phase
- The Ministry of Defense has approved the purchase of 120 ballistic missiles for the Indian Army. Defense Ministry sources said that these missiles will be manufactured very soon and will be ready on the India-China border.
- These missiles are completely indigenously developed and include the new generation ‘Pralay’ missile which can hit another land target at a range of 150 to 500 km. Can hit targets at long range. This missile is based on the Prithvi missile under the Indian Propulsion Missile Program.

Prachanda has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of Nepal
- 275-member Nepali Parliament elections were held on the 20th of November month 2022 in which no party got the required 138 seats to form a government.
- In this case, the head of (the Communist Party of Nepal) CPN Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has the support of 165 members to form a new government and he has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of Nepal for the third time.
- As per Article 76 Clause, 2 of the Constitution Prasanda is appointed Prime Minister of Nepal.
A Sikh has been elected to the post of mayor for the first time in California
- Mikey Hothi, a Sikh, has been elected as the 117th Mayor of Lodi, California, USA.
- In this case, Mikey Hothi has got the honor of being the first Sikh to be elected as a city mayor in California. Earlier, he served as Deputy Mayor till last year and it is noteworthy that he is of Indian origin.

Asia Cup Archery Competition stage III
- Indian men’s team wins gold medal in Asia Cup archery event. The Indian men’s team consisting of Brians, Ojas, and Ganesh Rao won the gold medal.

World Tennis League tournament

Australia cricket team renames Test Player of the Year award in honor of Shane Warne
- Australia’s men’s Test Player of the Year award has been renamed to honor legendary spinner Shane Warne, the country’s cricket board announced on 27th December 2022.

- Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer finishes as the country’s leading run-scorer in international cricket this year.
- Shreyas Iyer is the highest run scorer in international cricket with 1609 runs. He has scored 422 runs in Tests, 724 runs in ODIs and 463 runs in T20.

Veer Bal Diwas 2022
- On the day of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh on 9th January 2022, Prime Minister announced that 26th December will be observed as Veer Bal Diwas.
- The day is celebrated to mark the martyrdom of Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s sons Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh.
- Veer Bal Diwas will be celebrated at an event hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Delhi.
Tsunami Memorial Day
- A powerful earthquake off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, which caused a tsunami in 2004 that severely affected coastal areas in 14 countries.
- 2 lakh 29 thousand 866 people died along the coast in 14 countries including India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand and Malaysia. Now, Tsunami Memorial Day is observed on December 26 every year to commemorate this day.
International Day for Epidemic Preparedness
- The United Nations and the World Health Organization (WHO) had declared December 27 as International Day for Epidemic Preparedness and it was first commemorated on December 27, 2020.
- The day is observed to raise awareness about the epidemics.
